“The NRA believes that devices designed to allow semi-automatic rifles to function like fully-automatic rifles should be subject to additional regulations,” NRA CEO Wayne LaPierre and Executive Director Chris Cox added in a joint statement.

It's damage control and they are trying to have some say in the legislation that they know is coming.

It's actually the smartest thing they can do.

Its a loss.  People like bobber will hate attack and vilify the NRA as much OR MORE after this law is changed.  Furthermore, the anti will know that the NRA can be pushed around.

Can you imagine a person like bobber willing to "compromise" on aborting kids?  Nope me neither.

Smart on their part.  If nothing is done on the gun control side in the aftermath of this whole event, there will be political consequences long term.

If the patriots stand strong on the second amendment, democrats lose seats.  LOTS of seats.  It just happened.  It can be done again.
