Penn slammer 3500 drag issue

Rate this topic

5 posts in this topic

I own a penn slammer 3 3500 . The drag is  abnormally  tight with the drag knob at its lowest setting and even if I take it off the drag knob. I seen one other post with the same issue Iam having but I was just curious to see it anyone has any other solutions or ideas. I contacted penn and they said check my line knot on the spool for slippage. Everything is fine with my knot and no slipping. I just find this very weired because the reel is brand new and I don’t have this issue with my slammer 3 5500. I still fall in the one year warranty so worst case I will ship it to penn. But if it’s something I can fix at home I rather do that.

Kishan,

Tighten the drag down as tight as you can by hand, let it sit for a few min and back the drag off.  The washer may be a little "fluffy" or have too much grease on there.  Take a look at this thread where another member removed the drag seal to better fit his fishing need.

Tony thanks for the info . I will try that. I did read the other post where the other gentlemen removed the red rubber washer under the drag cap. I would like to correct the issue being that the real is new and it was designed to work with the washer. Hopefully your first solution works. I will keep you posted .
