This suggests that the tradeoff between handgun control-ability and sheer kinetic effects is pretty even.

Are these one-hit incapacitations?

That's one mean-minded peregrine. Defending territory with a nest, I suspect.

Thanks and yes. They have a nest near the top of one of the power towers on the island across from where we shoot. Previously it had been up in the back side of the dam superstructure but apparently with some goings on with maintenance, etc they moved the nest.  I saw one too far away to shoot today where both Falcons took off after a stray turkey buzzard, then regrouped, one back to the nest, the other off after another Eagle.

All good clean fun on the falcon's part. I can't fault their instincts, an eagle would be perfectly happy to snatch a fledging from the nest. As predators go, bald eagles are pretty lazy.

I think a friend of mine (standing next to me) may have gotten some shots off before mine where the Falcon hit and flipped the Eagle. I haven't seen his posts yet. He is the same guy that got the Moon over Barnegat I shared last week.

Headed home from work.

One of the last photos I took of the neighborhood in 2020 before remote work.

I had already cleaned out my desk and took stuff home.

I'm not sure I'll ever go back.  I won't miss the commute.

Where was the picture taken?
