Summer was pretty brutal. Constant knee pain especially at night. Wrist, feet, toes, hips lower back, elbows all hurting at one time or another sometimes all at once. Rheumatologist wants me on meds. Nasty ones. I ask about my diet and he brushes it off, wont even talk about it. Ok, ill consider your advice and maybe fill the script.  So I take to the internet and read about all these snake oil remedies that cant possibly work. But im dumb enough to try anyway cuz i hate the idea of being on pills. Eliminate wheat, nightshade plants and drastically reduce alcohol and tobacco (also a nightshade). After about a month something weird happens. My pain is gone. All of it. Im running up and down stairs like im 20 again. Diet does not matter. You need pills. Also, rice noodles are awesome.

In addition to tomatoes and eggplants........

Peppers. tomatillos, chilis, tobacco and white potatoes are also in the nightshade family...

And be careful of that Jimson Weed!

Dairy too which is rough. I miss yogurt but we got miso and kombucha for some probiotic assistance. Peppers are nightshades too. I miss them dearly.

ya lost me. The conclusion at the end of your OP was diet does not matter, you need pills.

So why are you "missing" out if diet does not matter????

Nightshades include potatoes, tomatoes, peppers, eggplant, morning glories, belladonna, tomatillos, perhaps tobacco (would have to check that one), among others. Usually, the foliage of such plants is not good to deadly. The fruits, not so much and have beneficial and culinary properties.

I have been dealing with very agressive psoriatic arthritis since Jan. of 2015. It has been kicking the crap out of me. I have been on Methotrexate, Humara,Otezla, [almost killed me],Cocentrix and now Orencia. The only thing that gives me any relief is heavy doses of steroids. TOXIC LEVELS of steroids. I am taking 25 Mg. of Predisone daily for 3 or 4 weeks until I get relief, Then it gets cut to 20 Mg. for a week,Than down to 15 Mg.  At that point all my symptoms come back. My rumatoligist took X-Rays last June, Then again in Oct. and the progression of the joint damage was unfortunately very advanced. He said if we didn't knock this down I would be looking at needing a walker by 60. What pisses me off the most is that it took from Jan. of 2015 until June of 2016 before it was correctly diagnosed and verified by genetic tests.  I had been to 9 different doctors. Starting with my primary to a dermatologist, to a skin specialist to a allergist. The entire time I was complaining of severe joint pain and my back was so bad I was hitting the chiropractor 3 times a week. During this entire period my hands were falling apart like hamburger along with the skin on my left knee. I finally self diagnosed after getting a pop up ad for psoriatic arthritis while searching for some relief for my skin condition. I went back to my primary with my thoughts, He researched and agreed it could be it. It was then confirmed by the rheumatologist through the genetic testing.  Fishing has been completly out for me this year. I cant walk the sand or rocks with my knees and cant cast due to my shoulders.

Staying mobile has been the only thing helping with the knees. My wife and I now walk 3 to 5 miles a day when I can and it has greatly improved my knees. I am now starting physical therapy for my shoulders.  The symptoms come and go. Some days I wake up feeling like I have the flue and can barley move. Good days I feel great.

My biggest concern is what all these new meds could be doing to me. I had to get off the Humara after 7 weeks. I began getting the negative side effects without any benefits. The Otezla put me in the hospital after 8 days. My blood pressure was 190 over 118 and my heart rate was 136 beets per minute. I was TWEEKING.!!!  Cocentrix had no effect on me as did the Methotrexate. So far Orencia is also a dud.  The rumatoligist just says we have to find the right combination that works for me. I just hope they don't kill me in the process.

Good luck to all fighting this.
