Dying with Alzheimers

Alzheimer's is not at all pleasant to see.  Went through it with my wife's grandmother.   She lived 10 more years after she was diagnosed.   By the time she died, she was in a permanent infantile position , in near vegetation state, and her eyes were completely blank and lifeless.   I doubt she never knew she existed.  It was awful.

Worst disease I ever seen. I rather get hit by a truck than get that. *ly

No doubt.  I've lost an aunt and a grandmother to it, and it was truly terrible.

Glen Campbell apparently knew he had it and was aware enough to do an album before he succumbed.

I worked many years in a retirement village and saw it go two ways. You either figure it is the way things are and enjoy the ride or get really pissed off that you can't remember how to tie your shoes. Either way it is a horrible place to be in.

ALS is waaaaaaaaay worse - your body goes to **** but the mind remains 100% functional, fully aware right up to the end.

Yea, sucks to be Stephen Hawkins.
