China expected to issue a statement appealing for calm.

meanwhile at the Golf Club :

Quote

As the news breaks across television networks around the world about North Korea's nuclear advancement, President Trump — who is currently vacationing in New Jersey — is tweeting about his former opponent :

"E-mails show that the AmazonWashingtonPost and the FailingNewYorkTimes were reluctant to cover the Clinton/Lynch secret meeting in plane."

This could end very badly.

Ultimately, however, I think that China will cave, and squash that jerk off in Pyongyang. The Japanese will not -- will not! -- sit by while that lunatic puts together a weapon that could eradicate a Japanese city. And since a nuclear Japan scares the **** out of China, they will contain that nitwit in North Korea if that's what it takes to prevent a nuclear Japan.

Nuclear Japan is long overdue. We could vacate the whole area for decades until they need another shot to the jaw.

He just said this morning that they will never use them first.

I don't know if China would put Japan ahead of NK. they've fought enough wars with them and committed many atrocities (on both sides or the border).

IMO China will use NK to get concessions from Japan in the SCS, before they do anything political - you can rule out military force - Beijing is only an hours flight time from NK's missiles .

and yet they did more missile tests in the last seven months than the previous seven years.

an absence of fear now from our lazy weak leader perhaps ?

A lot of Presidents have tried, but they're a crazy isolated country run by a family who think they're gods.

What's the point in looking back, beyond your own partisanship? For the record, this is what happened. Bubba makes an agreement with them. Whether it could have worked out better we'll never know, but NK wasn't nearly as far along the nuclear path. Bush comes along and declares the Axis of Evil, which included NK. But because all his attention went to Iraq, he forgot about NK. It's spilled milk, I don't go round blaming like you do.

Are they giving Trump just what he wants so he can order a first strike?

I'm sure some here will claim this is an intentional diversion from all the Russia stuff.

It seems that the biggest worry (in terms of initiating conflict with NK) is all the conventional weapons NK has aimed right at Seoul from only a short distance away, with the premise being that if we attack a city in NK, NK will respond in kind by toasting Seoul...given that, why couldn't we just go with a two prong attack, where we toast that area near the demilitarized zone (to take out all this weaponry) while also attacking the little fat guy's home?

With that said, I don't want to initiate anything and would only want to see the above happen when all other options are exhausted...but it's food for though, just in case

You have a funny way of not laying blame.  And you hopped right over the past 8 years.
