Fishing live eels with a clip

Has anyone ever fished live eels with a clip like tactical anglers or breakaway? I think it would be good to switch from plugs to live eels quickly this way. Any thoughts?

Use a 12" pretied leader with hook and swivel on other end and you can take it on and off your permanent leader on your line with the TA clip on it I've done this many times works fine no fouling problems

I used to do it and mow just carey pre snelled leaders. To be honest with the hooks I use it wasn't causing any issues. Didn't miss anymore fish didnt really notice the Hook  getting fouled but I break off on rocks and stuff more with eels than I do with plugs, and i was just tired of losing clips. If I'm eeling im hardly ever throwinf anythinf else so it just wasnt worth it.

I have done it myself with success. I always wondered if it was too much hardware until I went to a Steve Gallant lecture, says he does it all the time and doesn't seem to effect his hookup ratio.
