Guaranteed Base Salary concept... thoughts?

Seems there may be a Dr shortage coming (golly gee, who could have seen this coming? )

Primary care physicians arent making as much as specialties, and with College loans and Teslas so expensive, more Dr's are seeking and predicted to seek specialties.

So, I propose that all primary care physicians should earn no less than $875,000 a year*.

thoughts?

* my buddy who is a cardiac surgeon estimates this is his minimum yearly earnings.

I have a good bud who is an intervention cardiologist, all the heart boys need big earns because their liability insurance runs 300,000+ per year. This is why most of them are in clinics together, he was saying his clinic pays 1.5 a year in liability.

I bust him all the time about being a glorified body mechanic who specializes in plumbing, but he saves lives regularly.

Of course not, but the minimum wage is effectively set by operating expenses

Remove or lighten up residency requirements and there will be a line to come here to work at reasonable wages

stop having specialists determine relative values for fees that short change GPS and prop up specialists

cap specialists salaries

What is the guaranteed minimum wage for Dr's?

There is no guaranteed minimum.

it is whatever their market can afford.

Studies and surveys show that we will have a GP shortage in the near future.  Med Stuents are choosing specialties in which they have far more earning potential.

The GP is the front line of the Dr/patient healthcare relationship.

That is only partially true, over the past 10 years the role of Nurse-Practitioner has steadily been expanded to include much of the day to day diagnosis, treatment and prescriptive function of a GP.

Increasingly the GP is there for a consultative opinion.

Minimum base pay for NP.

$200,000?

Largesse, they would be lining up for blocks to knock your door down for a job interview.
