"...we lurched like a tranquilized elephant from a broad consensus on economic philosophy and free trade that had held for generations to an incoherent and often untrue mash of back-of-the-envelope populist slogans.”

“Never has a party so quickly or easily abandoned its core principles as my party did in the course of the 2016 campaign,” writes Flake, who has never been known for hyperbole. “

Flakes new book. What do you think?

I want to know who claimed "he has never been known for hyperbole".  Was that you?

I just looked up some Jeff flake quotes.  He is in fact "known for hyperbole, and I can quote if you want.

Again, who said "not known for hyperbole"?

That's really all you have a comment on?

There's a book that Flake is putting out. You didn't know?

Didn't care either. I just thought a 35 word title was weird....

No the quote seemed pretty interesting and I didn't want to cut it back. Also suggested parallels to calling out the Trump Administration the way other conservatives called out The John Birch society? Or maybe you never heard of any of that either ?

Subject title has more content than the post. Odd...

There's a heck of a lot of content in the title, and what Flacks is talking about are very real questions. What's a conservative? What's a Republican? I couldn't answer those questions a few years ago, and I'm less able to answer them now.

Let's not talk about Dems, who have their own problems.
