And then, just to feed the machine

he gets to tell his buddy Putin that he could not do anything about it.

That was suggested as a possibility as to why he might. An inane possibility, of course

Vetoing the bill will by definition veto the extended sanctions on Iran and North Korea, won't it?  Wasn't this all a part of the same bill?

I thought his objection to the bill was to that part of it which denies him the ability to lift sanctions.  No President wants his hands tied on sanction relief, certainly not President Trump. He's worked hard to persuade Congress that he can't be trusted in dealing with the Russians, though.

It's gonna be tough to justify the Veto House voted 419-3 on the Bill and the Senate was 98-2 on the prior Bill which didn't have the NK sanctions in it, I don't see 30 senators changing their minds because they added sanctions against NK.

Could he veto it on a symbolic jester followed by an eloquent statement about the Executive Branch being responsible for foreign policy ? He could but what we'll probably get is a 5:00 AM Tweet about tying his hands as he negotiates a great deal with Russia

Trump needs to explain to Putin why he can't veto it.

and hope he understands...

His explanation will be that he's not as flexible as Obama
