Daiwa Ballistic surf rods...new sizes

Rate this topic

I see that Daiwa has a few new Ballistic surf rod models to choose from. They now have 9 footer, 10, 10'6", and an 11. I'm hoping maybe Shipwreck or someone can chime in with more information on these rods. The newer sizes are 2 piece rods. Are the 2 piece 50/50 splits? When will these rods be available for sale?

Be in later in the fall.  50-50, nice carrying case.  $400

The 9 is a bit slow for my tastes, but the 10 and 11 are rocketships.

They felt pretty damn good. Well as good as waving them around can feel.

That 11 footer felt reel nice.  Very light in weight with some bawls..

i am very excited by these.  i held one of the original 13 footers many years ago and was quite impressed with it, however, rods of that length are not in my "wheel house." the 10' or 10'6" however... very excited!

Did they change anything else on the rod? Blank construction, guides etc? Or did they just add other sizes to the line up? Are these online anywhere to check out yet?

Shipwreck, are the technical details of these rods correctly described on the Daiwa site?  (That's been slow to update in the past).

It's odd, but Daiwa rods don't have the exposure or distribution of Shimano products. Is Daiwa expanding its' reach a bit?
