ThrowinPlugs
Hey guys, quick question, seeing all over the place between 1-3/o octopus. I'm going to be using basically only clams, MAYBE gulp minnows. What hook size do ya'll use for porgy fishing?
buddha162
1/0 is a good size, 2/0 if you don't want to deal with smaller fish. Baitholders are good hi/lo hooks too.
kuro
I use size 1 or 2 baitholder hook for clam or squid. They tend to be bait stealer so i use the smaller hook.
OverTheRailIntoThePail
Any 1/0 bait holder. Baitholder helps to keep the clam on. Never caught porgy on gulp minnows but I have on the gulp bloodworm.

Paul E
Still it makes sense that they would hit a Gulp. I've caught them on a Hogy Epoxy. If it moves it's food.

They definitely hit gulp, that's all I use (3" minnows on a 3/16oz jighead), but...if you're on a party/charter boat, and everyone is using worms/clams/squid? and they're chumming? maybe tip the gulp with some bait lol.
