Was wondering where people shop mostly when using online retailers. Looking to buy some bulk Gammy octopus hooks, leader, tac's, swivels, etc. Everytime I go to an actual store, they seem to be cleaned out of what I am looking for. Thanks in advance for any replies.

I shop from two places 90% of the time. I order through Smith Point Bait & Tackle, and tackle direct. I prefer Smith Point B&T honestly because the owner Craig is a really good and helpful guy. Unfortunately they don't have a site so you have to call or message through the FB page to order.

I just checked Shark River. Their selection is far less, but prices seem to be better than Tackle Direct.

I meant no offense to any store owners or other users, nor have I checked every single store. I only offered that in my experience TD had good prices and a big selection. I did check SR and found their prices mostly better. Haven't checked the others.

The other thing to factor in is shipping, some have $50 min for free shipping, some $75, some $100, etc. There's also taxes to consider (in state or out of state), or convenience if its right down the street. Some run sales, some don't.

TD has great selection.  Sale items can be a good deal, but non-sale items are full retail, or at least that has been my experience.  I agree that Shark River has much less variety, but prices are very good.  For an eye-opener, check out Shark River prices on Penn reels.

I do try to buy from local B&Ts, but admit to buying online much of the time.  One thing I won't do is shop B&Ts with the idea of finding something I like, and then buy it online for a better price.
