Flourocarbon is expensive compared to an average 40 or 50 lb test mono. I buy a bulk spool of heavy mono and use that.

Save the flourocarbon for leaders when plug fishing.

There have been reports of fluro unexpectedly parting under the stresses of power casting , so not sure if it is the safest material to use for shocker .

I have a friend who is a far better fisherman than I am. He uses ten feet of 40 or 50 lb mono with a 3-4 foot Flouro tippet. Flouro shockers are only for the extremely wealthy biggrin.gif

I use double the pound test for example I use 20 pound test mono I use 40 pound test mono for shock leader and wrap it around the spool 5 to 8 times then up the pole and back down to the reel. smile.gif
