slow all nighter - 41", 38", 38", 36", 34" and a bunch of 12" -27.5" fish at daybreak.

Sounds like a very good night.  I haven't been seeing any of those mid to upper 30" fish the last couple of years.  A lot of fish up to about 32", and a very few low to mid 40", but nothing in between for me.

Fished from 3:30 in the morning to 3:00 PM. I said to myself, "I am going to fish until I catch a big striper, gosh dammit." Towards the end of outgoing I broke a tippet when a really nice fish came up and took the fly right at my feet on the rocks. I kept after it, and finally got my first 30-incher of the season. Unfortunately I didn't have my phone for pic (need to get a waterproof phone case). Fly was a light brown Prince of Tides with grizzly hackle, which worked wonders today dragging the bottom. I had another great moment with a 28-plus fish came up and hassled a rat that I had hooked. There's nothing like fishing off the rocks and seeing what's happening down there. Makes you realize how many near misses you have

The weather couldn't have been better for fishing today (although a little more swell would have been nice), and things really picked up on the incoming with the rain rolling in. Eventually I was too tired to go on, and it looked like there might be lightning. A perfect day, much needed after losing a rod earlier in the week.

Bait or lures? I haven't caught anything over 30 this year. Seen them and had a couple on but nothing landed. That would be my dream trip, or even season

Thanks. I've been using sluggos during the day and a black and purple sp at night but I'll try mixing the sizes of my lures up as well

Striperondafly, can you please ask that captain to clean that boat a little? I'll even lend him my pressure washer. ha ha. Now I know where the "clean" comments about my "filthy to me" boat were measured from. :)  Gimme a call later if you want to get out this weekend.

I would reverse that. White SP during the day and dark / black sluggos at night. Sluggos at night - fish them really slow. So slow that you question if you are going slow enough and then cut that speed in half. Also, big bait = bigger fish. To the big girls size does matter! - btw, we are talking cow stripers here still....   :)

Good luck.

i do use white 9" during the day with a 8/0 live bait hook but I prefer the sp minnow because I can cover a lot more water with the longer cast. I fish with a very fast pace in the daytime looking for reaction strikes.

fished with NH angler thanks again bubba we delayed our start till 5am due to the tstorms. Went to a good outgoing spot and we got 7 keeper sized fish and many fish in that 24"-27" range. I lost 2 other nice keepers that threw the sp minnow when they jumped. Water was 49 in the ocean and 65 inside. The fish where in the 65.

I moved away, but still fish a bunch when I'm up visiting parents. Fished some spots in Scarborough and had fish in the upper 20s/lower 30s for most of the week. All caught on Topwater plugs. Fish were chasing herring or shad all week. The fishing was better than I've ever remembered in these spots

this guy followed my popper in and hung around long enough to kill the bite yesterday
