Dumpin' out !

My good friend and I were fishing a local area on Sunday. We'd caught several decent fish in the low thirties and a ton of schoolies. All of a sudden my friend sets on this fish. The thing takes off and doesn't even slow down. It ripped 200 yds. of backing off his reel s it swam a straight line to a breakwater where it broke him off. He stood there speechless for about 30 seconds. Then he couldn't shut up.

That had to be a cow striper. It swam way too fast and knew where it was going. That girl had been hooked before. So it's pretty obvious that the big girls are dumpin' outa the rivers. get after 'em !

Gonna go float around tomorrow after work, haven't been on the water since Sunday. Time to punch the clock and find some bigger girls, however 15 trips in 34 days since the boat was launched isn't too bad I guess. :)

Nice one Dan.

No it wasn't a friggin' sturgeon ! I have caught at least thirty of those damn things in the last few years. They ALWAYS take off in a slow and deliberate manner, and you can feel the tail thump your line.

How big?

42", not as fat as some, I'd guess about 28 lbs or so.  Easy release, I think the cold water helps with that, fish don't seem to exhaust themselves as much as they do when it warms up more later in the year.
