· #1 Posted May 30, 2017 I am very new to fishing but i hear that Lake Marburg in Hanover, PA is pretty good for beginners. We have been there and fished a little from the shore with zero luck at all. I want to take my son out there and a get him interested in fishing but the shore is working. We have Kayaks and plan to take them out soon. Any good tips. Catching anything would be nice i hear white perch are plenty. Not even sure what setup are needed and bait so any help would be great. 0 Go to top
· #2 Posted May 30, 2017 Haven't fished it but know guys who troll there for muskies. Very deep and very clear water lake. My suggestion would be to look for any weed beds or weed lines in shallower water and there should be some panfish for your son. Good luck 0 Go to top
· #3 Posted May 30, 2017 Anglers Wanted: Too many perch in Marburg During the summer, schools of white perch are found suspended in depths 20-60 feet, but it is important to get the bait - earthworms work best - to the fish quickly. Bates and his guides use level-wind reels with line counters loaded with sinking, 6-pound braided line. Trolling is more successful than drifting or stationary jigging, and it is important to work the rod in a horizontal motion and set the hook with a sweep, rather than an upward jerk. Using a small blade and a few glass beads above the hook usually makes these active fish even more aggressive. "If you're not catching fish, my advice is to let more line out," guide Dave Neuman said. "Typically, when you pass through a school of these fish, everyone in the boat is going to hook up, or at least get hit. "It's important to use a braided-type line because monofilament stretches too much when setting the hook. These fish can be easy to catch, but you have to be ready when they hit." 0 Go to top
