Hey SOL, Thought I'd share this fun little project I have going on, in hopes to inspire or give ideas. Originally I got this bag as a gift from my wife but needed some upgrades to make it perfect for my needs. post-69399-0-51601000-1491098347.jpgThe first thing it needed was a way to carry lures easily.post-69399-0-30301700-1491098482.jpgAt first I went to home Depot to get some fluerocent light tube protectors. These were flimsy and the hooks dug into them making it difficult to get lures out. I found out about Tap plastics and got some nice tubes that would fit perfectly. These would double the amount of lures I could carry.post-69399-0-31595200-1491098455.jpgOnce I got these fitted I needed a base that was rigid and light. Tap plastics once again had what I needed. Once I cut it to size I drilled some holes for drainage.post-69399-0-09419800-1491098408.jpgpost-69399-0-11953300-1491098711.jpgpost-69399-0-78187700-1491098684.jpgpost-69399-0-09868800-1491098744.jpgI then need to work on the drainage for the bag and found just the thing I needed.post-69399-0-63229800-1491098516.jpgpost-69399-0-71258600-1491098569.jpgpost-69399-0-57803000-1491098603.jpgpost-69399-0-30035000-1491098638.jpgpost-69399-0-81971200-1491098659.jpgAll in all I'm very happy with the outcome and it was fun making it all work out. Here is the final productpost-69399-0-89424600-1491098774.jpgpost-69399-0-07765700-1491098808.jpg

Nice job!

However, IMHO the most valuable piece of information you provided is your finding of Tap Plastics.

For those of us who already know TP, no big deal.

For those that never heard of TP, this is like Christmas morning under the tree.

TP is equivalent to the best sporting goods store you ever saw except it's devoted to all sorts of plastic sheet and shapes at reasonable prices.

If you like to build or tinker you will love this place.

My local TP is very helpful and will cut to my dimensions as all TP stores will.

Check out their website and drop in sometime to see for yourself.

{To get the very best prices, use the on-line order form and adjust your dimensions to various extremes. Prices vary greatly with minor dimension changes. If you have plenty of cash just order exactly what you want.}

Looks Awesome!  Nice work.   The only thing I would add is to cut 1/4" long slots in the tops of the tubes so the trebles "sit down" a little bit and won't move around or get caught on the top of the bag.  Easily done with a band saw in seconds.

Ditto on TP, an utter toy store for you creative minds out there.

.... and they can offer real technical advice! Think the complete opposite end of the spectrum from Home Depot....

Thank you for a great post. I finally found out where to get more tubes ( Tap plastic). Never even heard of the place. Plus very nice job on the bag. Great idea about the slots in the tubes too. Now what the heck you need all those SP minnows for? LOL

Looks great.  One thing I've heard but have not tried, fluorescent light bulb tube guards they are a thinner plastic and I believe they hold one minnow each (cut to length) they should have them at Lowes or HD. May lighten the load and you might have fewer hook to hook hook-ups.  All in all well done!

It is an ilure bag available on amazon for about $20. Cheap enough to where modifications can be done with out worrying about ruining it lol. So far I'm in about just $30 with bag and tubes included.
