If ya wanna work a z for light stuff then ya can try. I wouldn't:howdy:

But then it's just not the reel, it's the rod, the line and the caster too.

Don't you look at the original post when you post on a thread? lol

It's about tossing light stuff with a Z and a PUM. And the guy had windknots. Carry on my friend. Do your thing:howdy:

yes I saw the original post, read though the whole thread. I've been using these reels for 55 years now. I'm trying to get them to work with MPU and all size lures, as well as braid. That really shouldn't be a problem......sorry if I ruffled some feathers........

Here is what everyone is forgetting the 704/706 reels were made to be used with mono, a reel that size you would start with line 15# test OD .015 diam. and up with mono. Braid 20# .008 to .010 30# is about .010 to .010 that's way yo get birds nest gap in front and back of line lay hourglass line lay.

1# Problem with the line roller is one line face to small aftermarket or OEM.

2# stroke is to short you don't get the full width of the stroke, inside the spool could use another 1/16 up and 1/16 down stroke because of the way the spool is made front lip funnels outwards increasing the inside width. l got must of my reels working pretty good line lay close to perfect.

Work on the line roller the stroke that is another story.

Good luck been down that road.
