re Jettyguys so far looking at last year vs this year

The 12 LI surf clubs involved in the NYS Surf Fishing Contest report

22% fewer Bass than this time last year

45% less Bluefish

93% fewer Weakfish

Overall that's a 35% smaller catch for 2016

It also seems that only 2 of the top 22 sharpies reporting for both years had better catches - the other 3 were close to 60% behind their 2015 numbers.

Watch... One of the last big runs of big fish catching seasons before a crash and probably a moratorium again. Yes there are big fish. This season is showing very small areas holding good bites all over the region. Not really spread out through the range. It ain't long now boys.

True, but misleading. Agree that fishing is not as good, but for club stats, it will be way off.

Zig and Nick P I believe are not entering fish this year (at least what I heard) thats a huge portion of fish not entered into the stats, as well, I am also not entering any fish this year, so that is 3 people from the top 10 that aren't participating this year.

I can say I agree with the majority and this is certainly not a better year than last. Size wise yes, overall numbers way way down. Not a one 50 bass night this year yet, last year by this time, had a few already by this time period.

Sure you can get lucky and fish may have just shown up where you happen to fish, but for most of the island, many spots aren't producing with any consistency rhyme or reason for the most part, yes you could be in a spot or an area that is producing, but consider yourself lucky, that's not the standard or the norm this year...

Shouldn't be long now..

Bass has been terrible for me this year , only 3 schoolies and i put alot of time in this spring

40 bluefish

45 fluke so far but only 2 keepers.

I have had consistent action keeping the rod bending so i cannot complain.

my spring was the best i have ever had ( i have been doing this for 6 years since i moved to NYC area).  But it really died in early June and I have caught some small fish here and there.  No bluefish in my part of the LI sound...well I have not caught any.  To average it out it is still better than last year for me.  Hopefully the fall run is good.

been hitting the water reliably 2 to 3 times weekly, at night mostly, but some day trips to. number wise, theres been a yuuuge reduction in fish, its cyclical though. big spring, horrible summer maybe a good fall?
