Uglystick Elite, light action 5'6" with a Pflueger President... shop around and you'll probably have enough for a handful of rooster tails.

A good bang for the buck set up suggestion.......

Don't tell scooby I said this, but I would go for a Shimano Sedona on a Berkeley Cherrywood rod. Size of rod and reel would depend on what you are fishing for, but I have owned several of the Cherrywoods and all do the job. I still have a 6' light action that I use as a loaner for trout. The 7' ML is probably the most versatile.
