I just received my torque today and came across a few issues. First thing I noticed is line lay:

I've had to fix uneven line lay before on my other penn reels when it lays more on top by adding washers... however theres nothing to remove in this case. Heres a pic of what it looks like under the spool:

Second thing I noticed was a play in the anti-reverse system. It doesnt feel like it has infinite anti reverse but rather 100 notches per revolution. Is this normal?

What pound test did you use on it?

65lb

Is this reel new or used? Did you get it from a reputable place or fleaby/BST? I assume you spooled it by hand?

I spooled it by cranking the handle as I always do for all my other penn reels. I didnt buy it from the most reputable site... however I didnt think it would make a difference since its still a Penn product. Got it brand new, sealed in box.

Are you sure the that the spool was seated properly on that keyed washer on the spool shaft? Because that would explain this...sometimes it doesn't key-in perfectly. If you can take the line off, make sure the spool is seated properly, and try again making sure that you have someone apply pressure to the line spool so that you really in under heavy pressure. Or just take it to a shop and have it done right. Its one thing if your just spooling up cheaper, smaller reels for bass, but another thing if your potentially setting this up for pelagic as you don't want braid digging in later under heavy drag

Did you back the 65lb braid with mono?

If you didn't, try respooling the line with a bit of mono backing, tie the mono around the top of the spool, this will help you make a good base for your braided line to stay level. Make sure you keep the line as tight as possible while respooling too.

Yea i used a bit of mono backing and line was spooled on very tightly.

Go into the Penn forum. The reps in there will help you

Could one of the mods move my thread to the Penn forums? Or should I create another post?

I checked the seating(i see what you mean) and tried re-spooling again. Same results =/

That was the last thing I was going to mention.

Looks like the last option is for the OP to get it professionally spooled like you said, although I still think he should see what the Penn Reps say.

Penn will take care of you if needed.

What I would add is that for such a large reel and with Braid I would have it done at a shop or send it to pro (they just charge you for the line typically, pm me if you need a recommendation).

65# braid on a Torque 9 needs to be wound on with like 15lbs of pressure minimum to get the most out of the reel. If you wind it on by hand you are getting it on there with like 5lbs of pressure max. When you bump up the drag to 20lbs to stop a serious fish the line will dig and in and break.

The good news if you end up sending it to Penn they might re-spool it for you :).

Did what I could to create a link from the PENN forum, though managed to spell it wrong in the title.

Just from the visual provided, the braid "looks" like it is on relatively loose, though that may, or may not have affected the line lay.

Best bet would be for the OP to re-start the discussion over there.
