Don't really know the story but she plays games with you. Throws rocks and stick and sometimes follows you exactly in your foot steps. So when you have a feeling someone is behind you just turn around as quick as you can and you might see her face to face. Always have a camera ready on that trail.

I live 5 houses from the Port Monmouth spyhouse and fished then and FH via fisherman's trail alone at all hours of the night for 25 years or so and haven't seen anything but I do get creeper out every single time. Here is a pic heading back to my truck. If that's not creepy enough alone at night then I don't know what is.

Have seen her on dark nights....new moon a few times. When you feel the breeze on the back of your neck pick up you might catch a glimpse. Once while walking back to the parking lot a heard what seemed to be screams like two raccoons fighting...only to see her pass in front of me across the trail moving towards the bay side........whoa.....stopped for a moment, looked at me then kept on going....I left quickly......she's out there.

Got creeped out at Gunnison Beach one night. I knew I was being watched. Not to add hype but it was a cold and windy November night. I booked out of the Park real fast that night. You know there is a ton of history in Sandy Hook. Did you know at one time 13 British troops were buried in a vault there. The party were tracking down sailors that jumped ship during the Rev War. The party got caught in a blizzard and died. The party laid in the vault till a road crew found the remains in the early 1900's. The remains were a mixed up when the bones were removed. Latter the remains were turned over to the British Goverment. You may have some unhappy spirits about that. The Hook housed troops at Fort Hancock during the First and Second Wars. You can't till me that there were those that were so unhappy or troubled that their spirits still walk the place. It a way to watch the Fort Hancock area fall apart troubles me. So many stories and so much history is being lost!

Her name is Penelope Van Princis Stout. You can google her to learn the background. Next time you see her call her by name. She just wants to talk and she is actually very nice when you get to know her. She has put me on to fish many times. :p

Saw her one night, north of the fisherman's trail a few years ago. When I walked toward her she walked away and vice versa. When I fished she stood off in a distance and yes I could feel the hairs on my neck standing. Couldn't figure out who it was I really thought some wack was f###ing with me. After a while it started to move toward me and I finally had enough and took off back to my car, figured the better part of valor was staying vertical and breathing. Learned her name was Penelope and what her story was, saw her about a year or so ago and did call her name when she approached, she froze and I went back to fishing when I looked up she was gone. I live out in Warren County not to far from Shades of Death Road and there have been some strange things that go on out there, the one thing I've learned is to not go looking for it. It may show up and I'll be more than willing to say Good Night.

You had a little chat with her?

Thanks for the info. I think I won't even go to the hook during DAYLIGHT hours now.

Funny...I was at SH about a week ago...before sun-up.  Been there 1000's of times, all hours, and never get weirded out, but that morning I felt really uncomfortable until the sun came up.  Felt like I was being watched...I felt like someone was waiting to push me in the water...almost packed it in, until I caught a stripper.  The most freaked out I've been in my life
