Conrads, Cowboys, Dannys

I'm always looking at plugs and am fairly new to artificial fishing for stripers. When I'm on the plug forums or tackle sites, I see these descriptions like Conrad, Cowboy, Danny etc. The plug manufacturers sites don't seem to typically use this terminology. I Understand they are all metal-lipped swimmers (I think?) but could someone explain the differences and advantages/disadvantages of each?

Thanks

that's why you drift them out in the current.

there is still a very specific application for them.

I think the bottle darter may be to blame even though it does something different.

An awful lot of plug preference is a matter of fashion.  Senior casters, like me, will remember when "bottle plug" meant the Reverse Atom.  I haven't seen one in use in twenty years.  Flaptails are rare, though I do have one or two.  Plastic eels are little-used these days.
