Star Plasma Conventional or alternative?

I am looking at a couple of options for new boat rods for conventional reels.  Primary target species is stripers and will be trolling 60-70% of the time. One rod that I don't know much about, but looks and sounds (tackle store owner) like it might be a good fit for a versatile rod, is the Star Plasma model P2040C70.  I searched the forums and couldn't find anything on this rod and not much on Star Plasma's in general.  The price is moderate at $210.  Not seeing anything in the forums has me a little worried.  Please share any thoughts you have on this rod.

I am also looking at the new Penn Carnage II as an option.  Since that model is brand new I didn't expect to find much on it yet but appreciate any thoughts.  Open to other ideas as well.
