Monofilament lasts a LONG time....!

It may not be fishable but it is probably true, to some extent. 600 years I doubt it, it is based on some test where they expose it to high levels of heat, UV, etc. also know as accelerated aging. It is the UV and heat that destroys its structural integrity but doesn't make mono completely vanish.

 

So next time you are at the beach and see a birdnest washed up on the beach or left by some previous bonehead (and we know who they are) kindly pick it up and throw it the garbage on your way out.

LOL.... I finally ran out a large bulk spool of 17# test this past summer.

 

At the end of the spool was a coupon for more line..... Unfortunately, it expired in 1987! redface.gif

 

Line was still good!!!! It was kept in a container, in the house. Keeping it dry and away from moisture and it was as good as new...

 

But 600 years!!!!! I don't know about that.
