FINS from the west.

That would require oversand travel over beachfront that is currently only open to residents and their contractors. I'm not sure any nonresident access is going to happen anytime soon.

To the best of my knowledge, there aren't any plans to provide such public access.

However, it wouldn't be unreasonable for the various beach advocacy groups to argue that anglers with FINS permits should be allowed to take the ferry to the easternmost community/ferry dock, and then drive the beach from there.

And yes, as other posters have hinted, it would also be nice to find a way to tie public access to publicly-funded beach replenishment, on Fire Island and everywhere else. I'm not a big sand-pumping fan, but if it's going to happen anyway, might as well get some public benefit out of it.
