spinningreel
As I am heading to the Bahamas for some fishing next month, I bought this new Abu saltwater reel, given the good impressions I had with the Revo inshore 40. I received it today, I like the simple look of the metal body (it has no IM-C6 plastic/metal hybrid body like the smaller size). I also like the way the shaped handle knob feels. The reel is smooth, but it does not feel as precisely tight as the Revo Inshore and you can feel the gearings as you turn the handle. My impression is that it is due to a harder kind of alloy of the gears.. hopefully so. The drag is smooth but it feels very dry. I guess I will have to tear it down and grease it. This is a first for me and ABU reels of the latest generation. The gearing, too, feel dry. I put some 80lbs Tuf-Line braid on it, then I spooled an extra spool I ordered for my Quantum Cabo 40 PTDS ($100 shipped to Europe!!). The Cabo feels better built, but it lays down the big braid worse (while it lays down smaller braid well). They will be used for kayak fishing over the bahamian reef Will post the pictures. spinningreel
Eleuthera. I already tested the Quantum Cabo 40 PTSD in my last trip to Thailand, it is built like a tank. It landed Giant Mekhong Catfish without problems (they fight long and hard, like tunas). You can buy the Cabo with no worries.
