I dont have the article, but I recall reading not too long ago a comparison of what exec orders were traditionally used for and what they have been as of late.  again no stats on hand, but I recall coming away thinking that from reagan through BHO there was a continual increased abuse, peaking with GWB.

Congress hasnt been worth their salary in a long while imo.  They've passed the buck of their intended purpose in the name of political expediency.

This is one reason I push hard for libertarians in the primaries.  It isnt easy.

Presidents abuse their executive power when they usurp Congress' legislative power.

The volume of executive orders a president issues could be an indicator of usurpative bent.

In terms of "magnitude," a president abuses his executive power when his executive order contravenes Congress' legislative intent or substantially alters legislation.

when there is no law passed, but the President decides to go and out and tell the people in the executive branch how to enforce the "law" he made up.

Executive Amnesty because he's sworn to uphold laws currently in place, not side step them.

I think we're all familiar with president's routinely using EO's.

How many of those EO's were used to side step >laws< currently in place? Laws the president has sworn to uphold.

There is a difference.

JFK was on a good pace considering he was only president less than 2 years

FDR was king ... not surprising

I'm not about to go through all of them to find out what they were for. But I'm sure all of Obama's were justified and honorable.

So posting up numbers doesn't say much then if we don't know what they were used for IMO.

Nope, it just says that he isn't issuing any more than normal.

I was surprised to see that our recent Presidents have issued fewer EOs than guys from a century ago.
