M. saxatilis
Steve, steer clear of dacron backing if you can. Assuming your flies last that long, the dacron will rot. Have had it happen on a few rabbit strip leeches I tie. Wasn't happy. Life is too precious to fish ugly flies.
The Fisherman
any body braid or dubbing on the shank No, just a thread base. These flies are tied opaque. You could, of course, make them much sparser. That might be a good place to try a flashy body. Thanks for the tip, M.Sax. I didn't ever consider using the backing. I like the toughness and color (Smoke) of the Fireline. Steve Culton "We fish for pleasure; I for Mine, you for yours."-- James Leisenring
rel1
any body braid or dubbing on the shank When Itie similar flies for the salt I use palmer chenille for a body and it will show through the marabou and help keep the marabou from collapsing so much. davidstrout
Nice flies..is the articulated reference to the brand of shanks? I always assumed articulated referenced the joining of two items with a hinge Aka a jointed rapala.. Just wondering.. I hope u fish these up in pulaski and come tight..its a very sporting way to catch those awesome bows ..not a numbers game in the least but quality catching them on the swing high in the water column..kinda brings up the players

You can certainly slide a hook eye onto the back end of them, and that is clearly the primary purpose of their design. But you can use anything for any purpose you see fit. :-) Steve Culton "We fish for pleasure; I for Mine, you for yours."-- James Leisenring
