If the baitfish are close to shore/beaches then you will have a good shot on the beach. South end of the Island can be a great spot. I think it is 8 dollars for the day to park. Small jetty and beach there holds snook, reds,  seatrout  pompano, spanish macs.  Ladyfish. snapper. and Jacks. All depends on water temp and whether or not there is bait in the area.

The area below the bridges on both Marco and Goodland can be good too. I am a fly fisherman so I don't fish there much, but I do check out the areas just to see what is being caught.

The state boat facility on Goodland has a spot to fish, small dock, they sell live bait too.

If you can, go out with a guide, there can be excellent backwater fishing.

Stop in at ACE Hardware on San Marco Blvd. They have an excellent fishing shop/tackle. Also see the guy who runs the tackle shop in Hideaway Marine, off of Collier Blvd. he can be a great help too. Two good sources for local info.

Good luck
