hardened vs annealed wire

I'm making up some 4 1/2" Pfleuger Globe style topwaters. I hate the idea of trying to  bend the eye on the front loop when the plug is assembled. They're for pike & musky so I need something bend resistant since the head of the plug rotates on the wire shaft.

Think .062 Annealed would be strong enough? How about .047 hardened? Either wire is break resistant enough but I'm worried about the wire between  body sections bending.

Can you bend "hardened" wire? I would pre bend the nose loop and insert the wire in the plug. Then do a tail wrap which in this case will look just like the nose .

I ended up using some .055 stainless hard for this. Should do the trick. I epoxied the wire in the rear body half so couldn't start at the front. Next one I'll try your way.
