Still need help with my Mitchell 403...

I wrote a while ago, asking how to remove the spool and drag from my Mitchell 403;  someone kindly told me that I should be turning the drag in a CLOCKWISE direction, which worked.  However, I still cannot remove the spool; I was able to loosen the drag, as instructed, and I turned the spool itself in a clockwise direction, but it just turns, and never comes off!   What am I doing wrong?  Please help!!!

It is probably just a little stuck. If you are going to disassemble the rest of the reel do that then you can get a better look under the spool and see the spool shaft into the spool. It could be corroded but usually not bad..

You may have to take the drag apart to get to the spool hub.Take the knob screw out and turn the knob until it comes off and slide the spool off the hub don't spill the drag washers out of the spool. Then put some tape on some plier jaws and undo the hub without marring it up.
