ctilley182
What's everyone's take on Super 8 Slick??? I've never had a problem with wind knots before and I've gotten more wind knots the past month with Super 8 Slick then I ever have with regular Power Pro. When I don't get a wind knot, it casts a mile long.
LeoNYC
I actually love super slick and use it on most of my reels besides daiwa boat braid for offshore. In my experience with a lot of different braids they can all wind knot when the reel is even the slightest bit overfilled . Try stripping off maybe 5 yards then cast ,repeat until knots have diminished.
MVDCGTO
I had 20lb super slick on a albie setup for a couple days 2 falls ago. Put it on because it was supposed to cast a mile. Got knot after knot! Took it off and went back to 20 PP and have been more than happy Island livin
landwave
Ive had the opposite experience. I had more knots on PP than with the slick. I cant see going back! As stated, make sure the spool is not overfilled. We're not here for a long time, just a good time
Perch
I got the wind knots occasionally with the slick. But only when i was using tins and stuff. Plugs and bucks no problems. 20lb super slick seemed the best for the albies for me LIBBA #2445 -- 2010 Ford Ranger Sport 4X4 Â You can find me cruising the beach in the fall. LeoNYC
Nice Albie ! not to derail but what did u get him on? Is that a deadly dick jig? I agree with the 20lb slick and love it for fluke fishing too, works jig heads nicely
j0k3r
The line is very limp I've gotten bad knots on two reels. Stripped em off never went back. I think it's good boat line but I don't like it on the surf.
Stewie
love it on my conventionals. I don't go under 50 lb so as not to slice my leveling thumb. .........Elvis lives....2020
landwave
Ive been using the 40 in the surf and havent had any issues. Stew- stay with the 50, you cant afford to lose any more digits! CaptGull
Are you talking about spin reels? I get them occasionally with PP and Suffix 832 on spinning reels but not so much on conventional reels and almost never if it's a level wind. I think most of my knots are due to when the line for whatever reason goes on the spool loose and layered over with tighter line.
BillO
Ive had the opposite experience. I had more knots on PP than with the slick. I cant see going back! ctilley182
Yeah spinning reels off the surf. I had broke off a barrel swivel a couple weeks ago and put a uni to uni knot from the terminal line to the leader and that where it really started getting bad and bad line twist too. YakDawg
Had this issue as well. I removed the line and put it back on as tight as I could using a leather glove to add resistance. That cured my wind knot issue.
MVDCGTO
Maybe it would work better on my stradics but they already cast far enough with 20lb PP and so far it hasn't let me down. I do change it more frequently than most do though Island livin
