Invited out to fish Chesapeake Bay this weekend.  Guide says 1/2 and 1/2 and big clousers.  4 inches in length.  No experience with tying this big of a fly.  What size hook?  Thanks.

1/0 hook, medium dumbell eyes, 2 thin saddles about 3" long and bucktail or size 1 hook and small eyes for a lighter version. For getting deep whilst afloat then I use 2/0 and large eyes.

Some examples of the ones I use on the cape from shore and afloat:

Big/heavy

lighter

1821196

medium

1821193

This is a great guide on the clouser minnow from Bob Clouser himself. Remember use sparse hair and that chartreuse usually does the trick.
