I've been skunked the last 7 outings. Hardly 5 nibbles combined.

This morning I decided to clip on an old Rooster Tail spinner...second cast got a nice, nearly 12" Perch. Their attack of a lure is scads more fun compared to when they taste test bait before deciding whether to eat it or drop it.

I let her go, in hopes of birthing more Perch for next year.

I got another one very soon after clipping on the Rooster Tail yesterday.

It was the hardest pulling fish i ever hooked! It broke the surface just enough to see that it was big but not enough to identify it.

The very second that I looked down and realize my drag was too tight, I lost it.

If it was a Perch it might have torn its lip, if something else then maybe threw the hook... but the line was so tight i'm not sure if it could have.

Glad you're getting some action, City. I've heard of folks using spinners and small spoons for surf perch but I never have. Landed 5 this morning on my current favorite plastics, the Zman Crusteaz. Nothing big though. Morning tides look good for this week but a bright moon at night won't help at all. Good luck out there.

Man, that is some rugged, dramatic and interesting land scape.

Is that northern CA sea coast?

What species are we looking at here? I don't know what any of them are.

Based upon your screen name, may I assume you're a transplant from ME?

So after what you state as a "10 minute fight", you choose to further STRESS the Corbina by removing it from the water by grabbing it behind the gill plates, place it on the hot & abrasive sand which by it's very nature removes protective slime from the Corbina ALL for a Hey look at me photo, then after all that unnecessary  removal from the water, you  release the Corbina. Those are NOT the actions of a True Sportsman whose sole considerations are for the care & health of the fish, Only that of a YouTuber in want & search of likes!!!
