The lake community where I live has carp up to 50 lbs and are considered a nuisance. In fact, we have been asked by the POA NOT to throw back any carp we catch.

I have seen 20-25 pounders swimming lazily around my boat.

There are a number of ponds and rivers in MA that have some monster carp.

Unfortunately it requires time and dedication to even try to catch them.

I love seeing them when they breach/jump.

I come across them as I paddle around in my kayak, and they are so easily spooked, and when they take off they REALLY take off!

If you aren't paying attention, it might freak you out when they jet!

Lake Quinsigamond has some of the biggest Carp around . The biggest I seen personally weighed 45 lbs myself I've taken them up to the low 40's . I've seen many from the Bridge near Umass that were absolute MONSTERS . Unfortunately with all the Bridge repair work there's no access at all and as luck has it it's the best area I know.

CT river has an abundance of real dinosaurs in Western MA. area.

While fishing for smallies with ultra light gear 4# test line I was spooled a few times. Like a fast moving freight train.

Exhiliarating!
