Pulled a all nighter last night in 4 different spots. Managed 6 bluefish and one of them was weird as hell. It didn't have the yellow eyes and it had these strange looking black stripes running along it's body. Must be some weird mutant bluefish.

That was a female...

I think he was jokingly referring to some of those mythical striped bass that are nowhere to be found in RI.

Yup...lol. but seriously, the rudderfish and blue runners have been notably absent this year... The past two years, they've been almost a nuisance to those throwing small tins at bonito and/or false albacore...

The way things have been going with my lack of time lately, a blue runner would be just fine with me. :p

Back on topic, here...I have been picking up fish all week close in on the southern beaches.  Small fish, but they are at least close up, even in the middle of the day.  Cocahoes and swimshads type stuff.

Good to hear but i am sick of schoolies!!!

Some of the bigger blues have been moving up the bay the past couple of days. Got into some nice evening blitzes but nothing much yesterday.

Got a feeling all those big bass from the canal swam far around the block like usual.

theyre still in CCb, they didn't go through the canal. they were just coming into the canal with the tide, on macks, and then going back out (mostly) into the bay.

Decided to do some bottom fishing this morning. Caught everything from scup to togs. Did noticed the lack of flukes now, maybe they moving back out? Also what happened to all those sea robins? Was looking for a new PB today with them but not a single one.

Havent had time to dig up past water temp records but think this year may be running significantly cooler than last few seasons. Not sure if late summer migrants like rudderfish passed on RI this year due to chill.

FFS, my garden was 38° on *Sept 1st*. Been freaking cold. Early cold too.
