Have you fished all these crabs your posting?

Not yet, I will in ~ 6 weeks.  They’re all loosely based off some pics of flies that my guide sent me.

Nice. They look good. Where are you going to be using them?

Looks great but I cannot get my head around the circle over a regular J hook.

I have been using circles for stripers and Bluefish since 2017 and I never felt I was losing fish or missing hook sets. As long as the line is relatively tight, stripers tend to suck the fly and turn so they almost hook them self on those cycles and never have to go get the hook on the gills.

I can also use a smaller hook if I use a cyrcle.
That said, I normally tie in both types of hooks.

Keys in the end of April. I’m hoping to be able to travel more in the coming years. I’m hoping to get to Belize in the not to distant future, Blue Horizons most likely.

Did most of the guides recommend crustaceans for permit?

Those sound like great trips. Especially to fill the winter void. I’m just excited for spring and stripers to be back. Haha

I ran across this fly yesterday in the freshie forum in the flies thread . Didn't know the name looked it up and low and behold I had known and used this fly . The Wood Duck Heron fly as I knew I came to find out is a fly I knew as a WHD . Not a bad fly I caught on it well enough just seemed to have forgotten it . Simple enough to dress just a folded wood duck side feather and a hen hackle collar. I used Jackdaw body feathers because I had it close by. If you tie it just tease out the wood duck to separate the fibers and give a warm water bath to reshape . 6228b5ce3ebc6_P3090008(1).JPG.88064e7c2d42e7b959a569707339aad2.JPG6228b58437976_P3090005(1).JPG.19e32fdb8cee0395a3b6007cd4c0652f.JPG6228b543461a3_P3090006(2).JPG.78ece28c9444d2bfa0e7f951ef08c107.JPG6228b60c12b3c_P3090004(1).JPG.3724e7a4d047f160876667ec5813a62e.JPGP3090013.JPG.c3bcb1a734f4412b871681fa786af65c.JPGP3090008.JPG.fa8188d5be7821b9e46b08e1a9c65f01.JPG
