Stripping a Blank

Rate this topic

Hey Mr Goldberg

I have an Eagle Claw "Feather Light rod, Model FL 204 56, It is an ultra light rod I use for catching shad. Considering it wasn't a saltwater rod, it bit the dust and some guides broke off wink.gif I was wondering how to strip it and could I possibly rebuild a 1 weight fly rod on the blank? If so, what would be some nice components for it?

Thanks

Matt

Matt,

I would question trying to use this rod as a one weight fly rod. The end result would probably not justify the time and expense.

My suggestion would be to replace the broken guides or possibly strip off the remaining guides and rewrap over the winter. A set of Fuji YLG single foot spinning guides and matching tip should work well and are not that costly.
