Rewrap or buy new?

I have a Ben Doer 8-6 two piece that used to be my go to rod when I first started plugging.

Does is make sense to get it rewrapped or would it be more economical to just buy a new one?

I don't NEED the rod, but would like to keep it.

From what I've heard St Croix and Ben Doerr are no longer affiliated. If you like the rod, re-wrap it cause you won't get another unless you find one in stock in a backroom somewhere.

Great advice Brokenrod

I say have a go at it. its really pretty simple to do a re-wrap. And god practice for doing that brand new rod you really want. Regards Big Dave

Maybe I unintentionally misled you by posting this on this board.

I have zero interest at this time to do it myself, and zero patientce, lol

I was asking more on a strictly financial means, which of the two made more sense.

Sorry about that smile.gif

you can expect to pay 5.00-8.00 per guide to get it rewrapped + the cost of a new guide if they are damaged.

If the cork tape needs to to be replaced, I would "guess" less than 25.00.

Yes, I say it would be worth it. Prolly $40 for FUJI * guides/tip and $50 for the wraps and you have a virtually new rod.

You mileage may vary

* Most Ben Doerr rods had Pac Bay guides, the Fuji guides are a big improvement smile.gif
