1 PCS vs 2 PCS 9'

Hi.

I am new to rod building and custom rods. I would like to build a rod suitable for plugging and baitcasting. I am thinking of the Lami: XRA 1084 |SPIN | 9' | 1 piece | 1-4 oz lure | 15-30 lb line \t

My first question is, what casting and fishing advantages does a 1 piece rod have over a 2 piece rod? Can a 1 piece cast further? Is a 1 piece more sensitive to bumps and strikes?

The second question is, can this Lami that I referenced above handle a 50lb+ fish?

Thanks.

First, the rod can handle ANY fish. Most even halfway decent rods can if used properly.

Most guys that want customs prefer one piece. Although two piece rods have come a long way over the years, one is probably better only because there's nothing to worry about as far as the ferrul failing, upper section twisting, or the old favorite, coming off and going down to visit the plug or bait.
