i am building two 1088's. one as a spinner and one as a conventional. probably put an abu 6500 rocket on the conv. and a VS 250 on the spinner. i know the 250 would seem big, but this is for a specific application. what do you guys use for a guide set/spacing on this blank? thanks.

The guide spacing is approximate. You will need to test cast and do a stress distribution on both rods.

Spinning - Fuji SIC or Hardloy 40HH,30H,25H,20M,16L plus an SIC tip with a #16 ring.

Conventional - NSG or BNLG 25,20,16,12,12,10,10,10 plus an SIC tip.

Spacing for spinning: 40HH 35 inches from face of spool. 16L 8-inches from tip.

Spacing for conventional: #25 guide 28 inches from center of reelseat.

#10 guide 5-inches from tip.

Al- thanks for the tips. i may try the HH guides on the spinner setup. i usually stay away from them, but this is as good of a time as any to start.

i did a search for these blanks, and came up with a a few differences on the spinner guides. in an old post, you recommended using 40HH-40-30-20-16-12. why the subtle changes? thanks for your help.
