Old Bamboo and wood? rods?

My uncle went thru his dads (who has passed away) old rods and found 5 old wooden or bamboo boat rods... They all have the old wooden grooved handles, set up for boat fishing, and are all in great to relatively good shape.

Anyone here have any knowledge regarding these old rods? they look to be custom made as there are no company names on them. what I find "wierd" on them is that some of them have guides on both sides of the blank. I wonder why.. they seem to be old enough that spinning reels wouldnt have even been invented yet.

Also, on one of the rods is an old Pflueger direct drive reel with drag system at all..

Ill post pics of all of them as soon as I can and let you guys "go to town".

He might sell if they are worth something, he certainly doesnt want or need to use them, maybe they will make good decorations.. but I think it would be interesting to find out the scoop on them.

Bamboo/wood rods will take a "set" over time if stressed in one direction. Placing guides 180 degrees apart and alternating thier use helped to keep the rod straight. smile.gif
