the seeker CSU 115 is a good one.. about 3 inches off the tip makes it an excellent heaver.. graphite butt to keep the weight down and a good glass tip makes it a pleasure to cast and very versatile as well...

There is a well known online purveyor of TICA rods who has the 12 footers on sake for $80. It may not cast 8 and bait as far as the more specialized heavers but it will get it out there a hundred yards.

Dont really have anything I could recomend for a 100 bucks. If your looking for a true 8Nbait rod for beach work there is none better on the market than the Factory Breakaway 2P1P or the All-Star 1509. Prices vary depending on who you go to to buy one.

Own both the Patriot and Rainshadow 1209s.

Would not suggest throwing 8 & bait with them.

At least nothing more than a "lob" cast.

The Allstar 1209.. now thats a whole nother beast.

At $120 for the blank, how can you go wrong.

Built a lot of 9' Gatorglass rods for the bridge boys. 9' one pc. rated 20-50lb. line, It will throw your 8+bait, and the finished rod goes for $120.00. I used one from the surf and they work great.
