Lami live bait blanks

5 posts in this topic

Mr. Goldberg... last year I built a rod from a GLB901M blank, matched with a Penn 965. Used for drifting live eels in the Cape May rips.

Any way I would like to build 1 or 2 more, but in spinning this time around!

Do you think I should go with the same blank or maybe another model from Lami Live bait series???

I will be throwing up to 2oz plus the eel.

Thanks

Striper,

The GLB901M is probably the blank from Lami that I have built on the most over the years.

The blank is rated up to 2.5 ounces for casting, so 2 ounces plus the eel may be pushing it a bit. You may want to look at the GLB931H. It has little little more "bone".

SF,

You have lots of guide options to choose from. First is SIC versus hardaloy based on your budget. In either case, I would use an SIC tip.

Next is your choice between single foot and double foot guides. I prefer the single foot guides with this particular blank, but the double foot guides are fine as well.

Here are two options to choose from:

Single foot - YSG or YLG in 30, 25, 20, 16, 12, 10, 10 and a tip.

Double foot - BSVLG or SVSG in 40, 30, 25, 20, 16, 12, 10 and a tip.

Al
