GuidePlacement...StCroix ss86m2

I've decided to strip my St.Croix of the horrible factory guides that it came with. In the past month I have broken 5 Pac. Bay guides. FIVE. I fish often and hard, but I am convinced these guides are of substandard quality. Sunday my rod just slid off of my truck, a fall less than 2 feet and the damn guide ring broke. Anyway, I'm digressing.

Here are the rod specs.

It's 8'6"

Has a max. lure weight of 1 1/4 oz.

I'm sure others here have done this upgrade, but I need some help. Should I follow the factory specs. or is there a better way.

Lots of heart.gifheart.gifheart.gifheart.gif in advance

Stroth,

I still need to send you the tip top. I just returned from the Florida seminar and will get it out to you this week.

I need to know the reel and line you will be using as well as where, jetty or beach, you will be fishing.

You can go with Fuji double foot high frame guides or single foot high frames. SIC or hardaloy, your choice depending on your budget.

Al

Al:

Thanks!! You're the man.

Right now I have a fin-nor megalight 4000 reel on it. I'll use that one or a similar one with 8 to 12 lb. test

Some beach, mostly jetty though.

Al, you remembered the guides and the top right?
