It's been a good 24 hours. First a new yellow Fenwick blank now a brand new never built Harnell blank cwm12.gif

What do I have ??

 

This one's going to be a Bomber rod for one of my spoiled rotten kids.

Based on what you listed, looks like the 532, which was cataloged as a "saltwater boat blank". It's the only one at that length, and the published butt and tip diameters - .687 butt, size 8/64 tip are pretty close. They never listed lure wt. ranges; usually just "recommended max. line" and this one's in the old braided nylon / dacron standard at 36 lb. test. I've got one of those myself that I picked up several years ago. It's still unbuilt so I can't give any firsthand reactions yet, but it was recommended as - and I expect it will build into - a real decent pluggin' stick despite that "boat blank" designation in the catalog.

Hi Bill,

That model Harnell was listed at $50.00. I have one as boat rod I built. Makes a real nice rod. I think if I had it to do over again, I would build it for the surf.
