Sand Van
Looking to replace the tip guide on a couple of 12' tica's. Does anyone know the proper ring and tip size to do this? Are the sic tips the way to go? Where do I get them? Thanks in advance! "I cast the best when the wind's in the West...!"
Dzd
I generally don't replace tops unless they start to groove or are broken. The ring size I would make the same or the next size smaller when measured against the first guide form the tip. The top's tube size you can measure with a caliper just below the thread work or pull the old top and measure the actual blank or the top itself. If you are going to use braid then SiC is the way to go. Some Ticas, and Tsunamis use titanium carbide guides don't know if it is the same as SiC, maybe some readers can answer this question better. You can get SiC guides from various online sources as well as many tackle shops.
