9wt fly rod ??

Hey Al.

I'm thinking about wrapping a 9wt fly rod as a winter project. I found a good deal on a 9'6" t&t horizon blank and I need to put together the rest of my shopping list. I was wondering what you would reccomend for a reel seat, stripper guides and snake guides.

I prefer snakes over single foots, call me old fashioned.

Anything I'm missing ??

Thanks in advance..

KML,

The choice of the remaining components is dependent on your budget.

If you are planning to use this rod in saltwater then I would recommend either an anodized machined aluminun reelseat or a Fuji #18 seat. Either way you will need to make sure the seat will fit your reel.

You will need a cork grip. I would go with either a 7.5 inch full Wells fly grip or an 8-9 inch cork grip with the proper ID.

For guides I would go with Fuji NSG: 20,16, 12 and then the largest snakes out to the tip. Go with the highest quality chromed snakes you can find.

Thanks Al.

I think I will go with a struble u-15 seat and a 7 1/2 " full wells grip.

I'll be using a pate bonefish reel on this rod. I'm pretty sure it will pair up well with the struble reel seat.

In your opinion who makes the best quality snake guides out there ?

Have you ever used the pac bay TiGold snakes or strippers ?
